So, before we announce the winners for RVIP-sxsw, we’ve got something to tell you…
May 1-7, in beautiful Los Angeles, CA, the RVIP Lounge takes it to the next level, making all of your karaoke / mobile-party dreams come true. We have so many incredible sponsors that it will take an entire blog post to properly brag about it.
And now, the winners of RVIP-SXSW, 2008:
The “Bring it on Home” Award: -He was the last man standing/singing EVERY SINGLE NIGHT of RVIP-sxsw. How does he do it? He’s a pro. This sort of karaoke and party professionalism takes years of hard work and dedication.
Scott, we take our sombreros off to you.
The “#1 Enthusiast” Award: -Michael Lambie, you are our hero; the reason we get up at 11am after driving all night listening to Scott’s goth ballads. Your enthusiasm, active participation, and awesome vibes really make our wheels go round. You are inspiration, pure & simple.
The “Baby on Board” Award: -Some people lame out after they have kids, stay home, and don’t do cool things like go to sxsw.
Also, some people aren’t founders of multiple successful companies whilst totally rocking the RV til the early morn– when we look at you, Amy Muller, we breath a sigh of relief that you and Tesla are here with us. We love you, mom.
3. Determined the winners of the official “SXSW 2008 RVIP Awards”.
The RVIP lounge will top-off this week’s festivities with a formal-ish closing awards ceremony. We are super-stoked about this year’s winners, they truly deserve sweet, sweet recognition for bringing the party.
Event details will be released on the twitter.
As always, find us by texting “follow rviplounge” to 40404.
We have been burning the midnight oil, friends, thanks to all of you who’ve participated in the song, snacks, drink, and literal rocking (ie, jumping-up-&-down en mass until the RVIP sways precariously).
Last night’s 16-Bit Party was a blast. Laughing Squid’s freak show freaked us out, Spy Emerson shared an exclusive presentation of Dystopic Horizons Realty’s “Chic Urban Living: Affordable Artist’s Housing” in front of the Lounge, and Rubyred’s very own Kestrin Pantera provided her own original ambient video art projections for the evening.
We also rolled out to Austin Enchanted Forest, for Art Outside, an outdoor arts festival, where we saw tons of exciting art, a performance by the band Goodbye Ian (fronted by Douglas Smith, of HBO’s “Big Love“), and danced our pants off. Definitely check out Art Outside if you’re around next weekend.
Follow us on Twitter: text: follow “RVIPLOUNGE” to 40404 to receive our current location, & don’t forget to tag your photos w/ RVIPlounge!
We just arrived in Austin & are totally pumped! The RVIP Lounge is coming together nicely– this will surely be the greatest of all mobile-karaoke lounges in Texas.
5 things we will have in the RVIP lounge:
1. The Best Karaoke Ever
You may think we are exaggerating, but no. This is, in fact, the best karaoke songlist of all time. 7 years in the making, 10,000 songs strong. Prepare to rock us.
2. Photo-Booth
Smile! You’re on Flickr!
3. Mobile Bar
You didn’t think we were going to make you sing karaoke and then take pictures of you sober, did you? (of course, our driver will be, and we will definitely convince him to…)
4. Red Carpet
Everyone’s an RVIP in this party
5. Blowtorched Nachos
The most interactive and dangerous of all nachos. Karaoke doesn’t go well with an empty stomach– don’t worry, we’re lookin’ out for ya.
