The RVIP Lounge, LA Film Festival : our highest levels of rocking yet.

It began with an epic night of glory: we stole people from the VIP room at the LA Film Festival, cruised the Sunset Strip, stopped by the wrap party of Adrian Grenier’s show, “Alter Eco“, saw an amazing rock show by His Orchestra, interviewed Planet Unicorn, and went to the opening night Hollywood premiere party for “Expired”– who’s roster of guests included numerous Academy Award Winning producers (”The Godfather”, “Ali”, “Lost in Translation”, etc). Pretty much the blingy-est night ever.

Needless to say, we were completely beat-down the next day. We got up early, went to the festival, watched dogs frolick on the lawn as “Hellboy 2″ premiered in front of us… and were so buckled we almost didn’t think we’d make it through sunset.

Fortunately, our close friends banded together and rallied up to hit the Sunset Strip for “one last ride”. On Hollywood Blvd, a random group of Canadian guys (who had been desperately searching for karaoke, to no avail) saw our RV and literally chased us down in the street. We picked them up and rode around together for hours in hilarious bliss as they sang at the top of their lungs, shared stories, played with our lightsaber, and were all-around AWESOME. These guys are our heroes, who truly helped us “bring it on home”.

This RVIP Lounge is shaping up to be a dream–we’re doing press interviews at premier after-parties and taking people to screenings in the ultimate event on wheels at the LA Film Festival.

We’re collaborating with the coolest new tech companies, introducing their wares to the filmmaker crowd, and helping the indie filmmakers spread word of their masterpieces via new technology (and the media). We won’t call it a love-in, but we will call it magic.

Helping these two communities work together is the goal, enabling each to attain their specific goals and gain exposure.

Also, on a rock and roll note, we’re stopping by several top-secret exclusive events (see Kestrin’s blog for clues!)

This weekend, we’re joining the press with brilliant creative content creators, independent films & filmmakers, and inspired technology startups to create the RVIP Media Lounge: bridging the gap bewteen entertainment and technology, June 27-29th at the LA Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA (Westwood).

So, we like to give credit where credit is due. And now we shall award those who “brought it” the most this round–by which we mean they came out EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and ROCKED IT.

It’s the fabulous “RVIP LOUNGE LOS ANGELES AWARDS, May 2008.

1) He Came, He Lightsaber Air-Guitared, He sang David Bowie. John Bernstein, you rock our boats.

2) Some of you may know him as a powerful attorney, but to us on the RVIP Lounge, we know him as Scotty Spanks, He Who Brings The Party Home. Not just because he lives next door, but because of his genuine enthusiasm. Yes, Scotty, we’re going through RVIP withdrawl as well…

3) “She with the Voice of an R & B Angel”: Natalie, without your sweet soulful voice wafting through our ears, we’d just be a truckload of drunks screaming into a microphone. Well, that’s not entirely true, but you do hold down the artistic cred of the lot. Thank you for your beautiful music.

Honorable mentions go to Jeff Toolan (Multeepurpose.com), Vie Boutique, Josh Reiss and Ali Ward for totally bringing the party.

Oh, and P.S., we also announce Paul De Jong as our official family member for all time– the only reason he doesn’t have an official award is because it’s like when you’re in charge of the lottery, your family members can’t win the lottery. You know?)

Saturday night rocked us til the sun came up, to the tune of “I Want to Know What Love Is”. The RVIP Lounge was listed as “best bet” on the front page of the LA Times Event Guide. LA Times, you’re so good to us.

Legendary moment of night 3:
We picked up an eccentric gentleman dressed in sunglasses, black satin-ish gloves, and a cravatte in front of the Rainbow Room on the Sunset strip. He was extremely enthusiastic about his impending karaoke performance, so much so that we were slightly confused (and, let’s admit it, a little scared). Then He Sang. Turns out he had the most beautiful voice ever. My friend, Scott, recognized him and said, “Sorry about Motley Crue, man. You would’ve been way better than Vince Neil.” “No, no, no, it saved my life,” he replied. “Ruined my career, but saved my life.” Turns out, we were rocking with the original lead singer of Motley Crue, “O’Dean”. And lived to tell the tale.

Tonight is for professionals, people. We’re starting early and have a party planned in WeHo tonight.

The {RV}IP Lounge Night Two was glory. Metromix gave us sweet, sweet love: (click for article) and we sang until the sun came up.


Favorite moment of night 2:
I was rocking my fourth Tribute dress of the night, and my friend Greg
was in a Napoleon/firefighter outfit, when Journey’s Don’t Stop
Believin’ came up on the Karaoke. We couldn’t help but commandeer the
mics, having already practiced the song for a Rob Dickinson/Viper room
gig a few months back. When feedback threatened to destroy our
performance, Greg switched to producer mode and adjusted the gain
without missing a word. Which I guess is why he won that Grammy.

Tonight we’re starting on the East-side with a funky block party, then
heading into Hollywood to teach more of the beautiful people how to
rock properly. Sarah Kramer will be playing trumpet while we project
awesome videos all night long.

Our ballerest moment was when our friend, Sarah Carter tipped us off to a red carpet in progress– TV Guide’s “Sexiest Stars Alive” event at Hollywood & Vine. We rolled up, threw down a competing red carpet, and stole the sexiest of the starlets. Our carpet wasn’t as big as theirs, but the flashbulbs were all on our side–along w/ the guy from “Greek” feeding our riders with a gigante chocolate bar.
